About this unit

The Shure SM58 is the industry-standard handheld cardioid dynamic microphone for live vocals, with a tailored 50 Hz to 15 kHz response that emphasises vocal clarity and rejects off-axis sound. Its die-cast metal body, spherical steel mesh grille and built-in pneumatic shock mount make it unusually durable, which is why used examples remain reliable. It needs no phantom power and connects via standard male XLR; check the grille and windscreen for dents and the cartridge for handling noise.
